What a certificate of status proves
It certifies that the business is active and has paid all fees due to the state through a certain date. Banks, landlords and other agencies sometimes ask for one.

You can add a certificate of status when you file your annual report or a reinstatement. It's optional, and it's emailed to the address you give.
If you want it by mail, you send the state a separate written request with the fee, after your report has posted.
